Going through Mail:
- Try to touch everything once each day.
- Throw out all junk mail and credit card offers immediately (rip three times or shred).
- Put all bills in a place close to where you pay them (don’t keep envelopes).
- Place papers you need to keep (without envelopes) in a bin or basket that is easily accessible. Use a pretty basket if you keep it out.
- Throw out old catalogs when new ones come, keep in one place alphabetically.
- Keep invitations, things to take care of, and calls to be made, etc. in one place by the phone, family calendar, or on a bulletin board.
Maintenance Filing Tips:
- Maintenance is the key!! Get into a routine of keeping your papers in check.
- File the to-be-filed papers when they get as high as the bin or basket.
- Find a comfy chair, pour your favorite drink, put in a good movie, and file!
